TOWN NOTICESThe East Montpelier Selectboard hereby gives notice pursuant to 24 VSA § 4385 of a public hearing to consider the proposed town plan submitted by the East Montpelier Planning Commission. This is the first of a minimum of two public hearings on the plan. This hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the East Montpelier Municipal Office Building. The proposed town plan is available for review on the Town Docs page and at the Municipal Office Building, 40 Kelton Road, East Montpelier. The long awaited Groundwater Resources Poster has been sent from the Vermont Geological Survey. It's on the Town Documents Page. The full-sized poster is on display at the Municipal Office Building. COMMUNITY NEWS:Green Mountain Transit Agency is considering changing the US 2 Commuter 6:10pm one-way trip between Montpelier and Marshfield to a mid-day round-trip between the two towns. A public hearing to discuss the potential change is scheduled for May 6th at 5:30pm at the East Montpelier Fire Station. The Food Shelf at the Old Brick Church is open to residents of East Montpelier and Calais in need on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month from 4-7 p.m. Donations, particularly canned goods, soup, pasta sauce, and tuna, are always welcome, as well as dry goods and paper products. Food can be dropped off at the church from 9-5 weekdays. There will also be a designated box at Dudley's for drop-off. Two anonymous East Montpelier residents have given generous challenge grants to repair last year's flood damage to the Mallory Brook Trail.
